Given this past year of droughts,  killer heatwaves, and the storms of El Niño about to break over us, environmental issues are of growing public concern. Even if Democrats are unable to pass JRODs in both the House and the Senate, it's important that they force Republicans to take a public stand on this issue.

Email San Francisco Police Commission during the public comment (deadline Sunday, September 20) proposed changes to SFPD drone policy to tell them the problem is that the new policy unlawfully expands SFPD’s power to use drones, invites invasions of privacy, chills First Amendment activity, and installs a weak data retention/sharing model. 

Tell Governor Newsom: Protect our lives in California, sign AB2760 in law.  This  groundbreaking legislation will ban electric shock gloves in the State of California until they are studied, over a 3 year period, tested, and proven safe and to save lives. 

Voters approved $26M in funding for transgender care, in anticipation of Federal action to revoke that care. Call your reps now to make sure they make those funds available before that Federal action takes effect.

Contact Governor Newsom to ask him to drop a plan he introduced in the legislature, right at the end of their session, to cut the cost of wildfires for profit-making utility companies.

Contact your State Assembly member to ask them to support SB 954, which closes a loophole in the California Environmental Quality Act that exempts new industrial development from CEQA reporting requirements.

MAGA Republicans in the Senate may try to break the filibuster that has blocked the atrocious National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). So far, our own senators Padilla and Schiff have stood fast against the NDAA by supporting the filibuster but they are under intense lobbying pressure. We need to counter that lobbying by urging Padilla and Schiff to not only stand fast but work with other Democratic senators to do the same. 

US Forest Service is proposing rescinding provisions of its forest management guidance. It also is undermining required public comment periods. Make a public comment now (by July 31)!
