My name is __________. I am a constituent, and my zip code is _______. I am a member of Indivisible SF.
Thank you for looking into the issue of ICE activity and detention of travelers at SFO. I am asking you to pressure the San Francisco Airport Commission to :
1. Disclose and publicly review its contracts and collaboration with all components of the DHS.
2. Minimize collaboration, data sharing, and access to airport premises by DHS staff.
3. Post prominent signs informing travelers of their rights and warning that data provided to airlines, even for domestic flights, will be passed on by airlines to TSA and/or CBP and by them to ICE.
4. Review and report publicly on what SFO is doing to comply with the San Francisco Sanctuary City Ordinance.
5. Be prepared to challenge, in court, requests or demands from the DHS for collaboration or data sharing by the airport or warrantless access to airport premises by DHS agents not mandated by valid, Constitutional Federal laws.
Background
As reported in the press, DHS/ICE has been active at SFO, kidnapping travelers, holding them in an immigration jail on the premises of SFO and using San Francisco-supplied Flock cameras and other technology.
Representatives of Indivisible and of the Identity Project have attended two Airport Commission meetings asking that SFO minimize the interference in San Francisco Sanctuary laws. So far the Airport Commission has made no attempt to even consult their lawyers to know what resistance can be made to DHS overreach.
To their credit, the San Francisco Supervisors have begun looking into the issue of the detention center at the airport. Please contact your supervisor to compliment them on this and to ask them to tell the Airport Commission to make moves to defend the airport from violations of San Francisco Sanctuary City laws.
