How we Mobilize for Election Defense

The anchor for election defense mobilizations in San Francisco is the Bay Resistance coalition, of which we are a part.

If election interference, disruption at the polls, or refusal to honor results occurs anywhere, we will mobilize.

Expect to be ready for mobilization during the following important time periods:

  • Oct 5 - Nov 3: Early in-person voting, mail voting, and election day

  • Nov 4 - mid December: Certification of elections

  • Jan 4: Seating of Congress

7 AM Embarcadero Plaza RED LINE Mobilization: If a disruption occurs, Bay Resistance will call a RED LINE alert. We will mobilize at 7 AM at Embarcadero Plaza the next day. You will get an alert from Bay Resistance and through our Rapid Response Hotline.

From there, the mobilization will be ongoing as developments warrant.

What we do: Our role in the Bay Area

The Bay Area is not expected to be a target for election disruption, but it is a major economic zone with many MAGA-aligned corporations. Our role will be to exert economic pressure on the regime. This will weaken the ability of corporations to comply, and cause rifts and dysfunction which will push the regime to give up.

This strategy has already succeeded when the ICE surge in the Bay Area was called off.

You might see the following Calls To Action in the weeks following mobilization.

  1. No Work, No School, No Shopping days encouraging people to stop economic activity.

  2. Boycotts of major MAGA-aligned corporations such as Target and Home Depot. We will need to hold regular protests at these locations, as well as flyering.

  3. Support for unions striking in key economic roles such as dockworkers.

  4. Continued protests to keep the issue in the news and prevent normalization.

What YOU do: Roles you can take on to help

We will have multiple roles you can take on. Once you join our organizing Signal group, you can choose which one you want to do. We may add more roles and things to do as events warrant.

  1. Join our standing team for the 7 AM red line mobilization

  2. Join our transit flyering team which will spread the word about the mobilization

  3. Join our business canvassing team which will work with local businesses to decrease economic activity when needed, and to put up window signs.

Thank you for working with us to help defend democracy and keep our elections free and fair!
