For months, ICE and other federal agents have escalated their operations in neighborhoods across the country, resulting in increasingly disturbing scenes and illegal conduct. Our communities have been left reeling as agents have arrested U.S. citizens, dragged children from their beds in the middle of the night in zip-ties, smashed car windows, and even driven away from an arrest scene with a toddler still in the backseat. Now, ICE agents have tragically killed without just cause a beloved community member in Minneapolis. And yet, the administration has the audacity to ask Congress for even more money to detain and deport people.

With the illegal military strike on Venezuela and abduction of its leader Nicolas Maduro, this is a return to the era in which the US asserted unlimited power over Western Hemisphere nations. Tell your Members of Congress to reassert Congress’ unique power to declare war and to investigate the illegal actions of this administration.

Sup. Dorsey—with Sups. Mandelman and Sherill cosponsoring—are seeking to remove the 2019 Anti-Surveillance Law’s private right of action, which allows people to sue the Department after it violates their privacy. In other words: Removing the one lever we have to enforce this law when our leaders fail to do so.

Thank your mayor and supervisor for supporting the Board’s recommendation for a $3.5 million supplemental budget and asking Board President Mandelman to fast-track it.  The lives of our neighbors are on the line, and we are thankful that the city government is taking this seriously.
