I want to thank Sen. [Padilla/Schiff] for addressing the real state of the American people in response to Trump’s lie-filled SOTU speech. Thank you for standing up against the Trump Administration’s weaponization of DHS agencies and their abuses of power, including the atrocious conditions in Trump's concentration camps. We join your urgent call to protect our elections and address the affordability and healthcare needs of all people.
Background
On Tuesday evening (Feb 24th), Donald Trump stood in front of Congress and lied to the American people.
What does Trump love more than anything else in the world? ATTENTION. Which is why depriving him of that attention by not being present in the US House at the time of the address and delivering a speech highlighting the many failures and abuses of power during the first year of the Trump 2.0 administration was the right thing to do. Sen Schiff joined MoveOn and other Democratic congress people to do just that. Senator Padilla opted to deliver the Spanish-language Democratic rebuttal, speaking to all, addressing the most vulnerable communities among his constituents and highlighting the egregious DHS abuses, self-enrichment of Trump, his cabinet, allies, and cronies while neglecting the real needs of the "We the People."
We are grateful to our Senators for taking a stand and speaking truth to power.
This Week's US Congressional Call Scripts:
Keep up the demand: Democrats must not give one additional dime for ICE/CBP!
Demand Democrats give not one additional dime for ICE/CBP.
Oppose any funding for DHS. Not one penny more!
Tell your representative to NOT vote for any DHS bill or legislative process that fails to include significant and meaningful measures to rein in ICE and CBP's unchecked violence, impunity, and denial of basic human rights!
On January 8, wannabe king Trump asserted to the New York Times that his power to unilaterally use military force internationally and domestically is constrained only by: "My own morality. My own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me.” Call your Members of Congress and tell them: Defend our Constitution against Trump’s power-grab.
For months, ICE and other federal agents have escalated their operations in neighborhoods across the country, resulting in increasingly disturbing scenes and illegal conduct. Our communities have been left reeling as agents have arrested U.S. citizens, dragged children from their beds in the middle of the night in zip-ties, smashed car windows, and even driven away from an arrest scene with a toddler still in the backseat. Now, ICE agents have tragically killed without just cause a beloved community member in Minneapolis. And yet, the administration has the audacity to ask Congress for even more money to detain and deport people.
With the illegal military strike on Venezuela and abduction of its leader Nicolas Maduro, this is a return to the era in which the US asserted unlimited power over Western Hemisphere nations. Tell your Members of Congress to reassert Congress’ unique power to declare war and to investigate the illegal actions of this administration.
On Jan 3, 2026, the US began land military action in Venezuela. We demand a stop to illegal war and accountability.
The censorship bill known as the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) won’t seem to go away, and in fact just seems to be getting worse. Tell your MoCs to vote NO - again!
