Please vote YES on and support SB 1399.
Background
Attorney General Rob Bonta’s office created an excellent report on the conditions in the ICE concentration camps in California. They are able to do this annually on the basis of California legislation passed several years back. Unfortunately this ability to report sunsets in 2027, but State Senator Maria Durazo has created a bill that creates oversight of these facilities. Now it is our time to support it. SB1399 is the California Senate bill dedicated to reinstituting and strengthening oversight over ICE detention centers in California.
SB1399 has passed the Senate and is now in the Assembly Judiciary Committee. One member of that committee is our Assembly Member, Catherine Stefani. Please call or write her or Assembly Member Matt Haney to make sure that they vote to support this important bill.
