Background
We need your help to bring the public bank to the ballot!
This is the culmination of years of movement work to put the people of SF over profit, a monumental moment for a longtime progressive priority in San Francisco.
The key event for Supervisor Chen's Public Bank Charter Amendment is the Rules Committee vote on June 22nd 9am.
It's time to go all in on advocacy leading up to that.
While the legislation already has 6 supporters on the board, only 1 of the 3 on the rules committee are currently committed to supporting. Without one more of the rules committee members supporting, the legislation won't go to the ballot. We need everyone who supports a public bank to let our elected officials know they think San Francisco residents should have a chance to vote on the rules for our public bank.
Here are talking points and outreach instructions for public bank supporters.
Here's how you can help:
Call the supervisors on the Rules Committee, especially if you’re a constituent of theirs.
Send an email to the supervisors on the rules committee.
Join supporters in person on June 22nd at 9am at the legislative chamber at SF City Hall.
Rules Committee:

Vice Chair Stephen Sherrill (D2) Office: 415-554-7752 SherrillStaff@sfgov.org
Chair Shamann Walton (D10) Office: 415-554-7670 waltonstaff@sfgov.org
(Chair Walton is already co-sponsoring the legislation, you are encouraged if you have capacity to reach out to thank them for this support.)
Each and every voice could make the difference! Please take a brief moment to join this movement and be a part of this. Ask 3 friends, family members, housemates or co-workers to also reach out. We get this done by our voices being a constant, present feature of our elected officials' working lives in the time leading up to the vote.
