I urge the Representative to do everything in their power to stop the budget bill, which will cut Medicaid while massively funding ICE and giving handouts to billionaires.
Background
The Big Ugly Bill narrowly passed the Senate with Vance breaking the tie. Although some atrocious provisions were removed, the bill still cuts Medicaid and drastically increases funding for ICE. Passage of this bill will close rural hospitals and deprive the poor of services, while its transfer of wealth to the rich poses serious dangers to our economy across the board. This is a dangerous moment - but we still need to fight.
The bill now faces consideration in the House. It can still be defeated, and we need to urge our Representatives to do everything possible to stop it. We also need to continue phonebanking to red states to get voters there to call their representatives to stop the bill.
The Big Ugly Bill is highly unpopular, and most voters as well as politicians agree that it is a terrible policy. It is taking all of Trump’s political capital and authoritarian power to get it passed. We need to do everything possible to defeat it.
