Voting ends Nov. 3, but don’t expect results that night. The results will only be known after every vote is counted, and that will take days or weeks. Our Mayor and Board of Supervisor must stand by efforts to #CountEveryVote and stand by San Franciscans standing up for democracy.

Mayor Breed has resisted calls to house San Franciscans in hotels to keep them safe from Covid-19, instead proposing such dangerous ideas as mass camps for them. Demand that she acts to procure safe and secure housing for homeless people!

ICE is trying to get around AB32 by establishing private prison contracts before the law kicks in. Tell state officials not to let them get away with it!

The Ordinance to implement SB 1045 was heard this Monday, May 13th in the Rules Committee, and in the vote was continued to next Monday, May 20th. Although it may fail in Committee,, Supervisor Mandelman plans to invoke a seldom-used tactic to force a vote by the full Board. It is imperative that you contact your Supervisor this week and let them know that you stand with the ACLU in opposing this Ordinance. Healthcare decisions must not be placed in the hands of the police.

San Francisco is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis. Ask your Supervisor and the Mayor to fund The Homeless Emergency Service Providers Association (HESPA), a group of 27 organizations advocating for a more robust safety net that can provide housing and emergency services for homeless San Franciscans.

City officials are hearing too many complaints from residents who don't wish to be confronted by evidence of poverty and human suffering. They need to hear from you: tell your local lawmakers to prioritize the health, safety and fundament human rights of our city's 7,000 homeless people over the aesthetic concerns of the comfortably-housed.

Despite opposition from a growing coalition that includes the ACLU, Senior and Disability Action, and the Coalition on Homelessness, Mayor Breed and Supervisors Mandelman, Brown, and Stefani plan to implement an expanded conservatorship program in San Francisco.

Mayor Breed has not responded to our calls to #StopTheSweeps. It's time for her to acknowledge that these city policies are unconstitutional and inhumane, and to call for an immediate moratorium.
