Please vote YES on and support SB 423.
Background
Since last January, the federal government has shut down programs meant to safeguard detainees. The private companies running the ICE concentration camps can and do refuse to release internal incident reports, emergency call logs or security records. Medical and criminal emergencies suffered by detainees in California’s ICE concentration camps are not being addressed and lawyers and others trying to document the incidents are unable to access the information necessary to build a case. Support SB423, the California Senate bill dedicated to safeguarding detainees in ICE detention centers in California.
SB423 has now passed the Senate Judiciary Committee. One member of that committee is our Senator Scott Wiener, and he did not vote on this bill. Please call or write to him to make sure that he votes to support this important bill.
