My name is __________. I am a constituent in the zip code _______ and a member of Indivisible SF.

I’m calling to ask Representative __________ to vote against the SAVE Act, the MEGA Act, or any bill that attacks our voting rights.

There are already strict laws in place preventing anyone who is not a citizen from voting in federal elections. These bills aren’t about election security—they are a blatant voter suppression tactic designed to make it harder for millions of eligible Americans to register and vote.

I expect Representative __________ to protect voting rights and not raise barriers for Americans to practice their rightful civic duty. I urge Representative __________ to vote NO on any bills that would suppress voters and silence American voices.

Background

After stalling in the Senate last spring, H.R.22 — also known as the SAVE Act — has been reintroduced by Republicans ahead of 2026’s midterms in a continued effort to undermine American voters

The purpose of this bill is to raise barriers and costs to deny millions of Americans access to the ballot by requiring all Americans to jump through hoops to prove citizenship when registering to vote.

This bill disenfranchises nearly all married women and trans Americans who do not have a REAL ID or passport. This is because their other primary proof of citizenship — their birth certificate — would not have a matching name. Additionally, since most California driver licenses are not REAL IDs and don’t show the bearer’s place of birth, many Americans who do not have passports will need to present another form of identification such as a birth certificate with your current name on it, naturalization certificate, adoption decree, etc. These extra hoops are tantamount to a poll tax, which was declared unconstitutional in 1966.

Half of U.S. citizens do not have a valid passport, according to the Center for American Progress. Passports require time and money to obtain, and now they’re even harder to acquire thanks to the Trump administration kneecapping federal services.

Our legislators were asleep at the wheel and allowed this bill to pass under the radar last session. We cannot afford to make the same mistake this time.

Tell your House Representative: Vote NO on the SAVE Act.
