My name is __, I am a constituent in ZIP code _____, and I am a member of Indivisible SF. We stand for the rights of all Americans, and that includes LGBT people.
I am concerned about the Republican appropriations bills with anti-LGBT riders. Gender-affirming care is life-saving medicine, the federal government should not interfere with sports leagues, and bathroom bans are cruel and pointless.
You can't appease fascism by sacrificing a minority—you only embolden it. Please do everything in your power to defend transgender rights, up to and including filibusters and forcing a government shutdown.
Background
Republicans have attached anti-LGBT attack riders to funding bills for the government.
Some of the worst riders:
Commerce, Justice, and Science bill — would force trans women into men's prison.
Financial Services and General Government bill — would take away gender-affirming care coverage from federal employees’ health plans.
Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education bill — would:
Ban “any federal funds” from supporting gender-affirming care at any age, even for adults. The broadest possible interpretations of this would strip all healthcare via Medicaid and Medicare from transgender people.
Banning trans kids from sports.
Expose LGBTQ+ foster children to abuse
Congressional Democrats have already caved on the National Defense Authorization Act, accepting pride flag and bathroom bans on military bases and stripping gender-affirming care for military families (TRICARE). Tell them to stand their ground for once.
This Week's US Congressional Call Scripts:
Our Senators are standing with us.
Congress must hold the Trump/MAGA regime in check, and that includes defending broadcasters’ right to report the news and commentators’ opinions freely and our right to be well informed
Members of Congress must use every lever in their toolbox: from immediate oversight to investigating all the possible corruption the abrupt decision to wage war on Iran to hold this administration accountable and putting an immediate stop to this war. We need to let Congress know we won’t accept anything less.

Thank your Senators for standing against the SAVE Act and urge them to prevent the bill from being rammed through by Republicans.
The manipulatively titled “Stop the Sexualization of Children Act” proposes legislation to withhold federal funding if schools do not comply with the government’s opinion of what children should or should not be allowed to read. Tell Your Representatives: Vote NO on a National Book Ban!
Demand your Members of Congress continue to work to stop the war on Iran
Unfortunately, KOSA is back with revised language and deceptively incorporated into the Kids Internet and Digital Safety (KIDS) Act. Tell Your Representatives: Vote NO on KIDS!
President Donald Trump has launched unauthorized military strikes on Iran, dragging the United States into yet another war without approval from Congress. The Constitution is clear: Congress, NOT the president, holds the power to declare war and to approve or disapprove sustained military engagement. Urge your Members of Congress to use every let option available to them to oppose this war..
Urge your electeds to immediately support the resolution to remove US from hostilities in Iran and curtail presidential war powers.
