As your constituent, I am deeply alarmed by recent ICE enforcement actions and voter intimidation tactics targeting immigrant and agricultural communities in California’s Central Valley ahead of the election. While I appreciate your initial actions, I urge you to immediately take the following further steps to protect vulnerable voters:
Demand an Emergency DHS OIG Investigation: Formally request that the DHS Office of Inspector General investigate ICE’s operational directives and deploy internal monitors to the region.
Hold Field Hearings: Leverage your committee assignments to hold emergency congressional field hearings directly in the Central Valley so affected community members can testify on the record.
Codify Sensitive Locations: Introduce federal legislation to permanently ban immigration enforcement actions near voting infrastructure.
Our democracy depends on every eligible voter feeling safe to cast their ballot. Please use your full federal oversight authority to halt these intimidation tactics immediately.
