My name is _______ and I am a constituent. My zip code is _______. I am a member of Indivisible.
I am calling today to thank you for voting NO on the GOP government funding bill. Unfortunately, Senator Chuck Schumer led the Senate Democrats to surrender a rare moment of leverage to rein in the chaos and harm of Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Congressional Republicans. Schumer should step aside as Minority Leader. I am asking you to demand Sen Schumer step aside and work with your fellow Democrats to elect a leader who is committed to fight as hard as we are to protect our democracy, in opposition to fascism.
Background
Last week, Senator Chuck Schumer voted to block a filibuster against the GOP's Continuing Resolution thereby allowing it to pass without placing any limits on the wanton destruction of Trump, Musk and DOGE.
Senator Chuck Schumer failed to lead Democratic Senators in opposition to a terrible bill and in this unique situation he opposed the one tactic that had a chance of forcing Republicans to place real limits on the dismantling of the federal government, unilateral attacks on vulnerable people, and mass chaos and job loss caused by Trump and Musk. In fact, he was a leader in enabling the authoritarian administration.
Senator Chuck Schumer betrayed the Senate Democrats and the House Democrats, and demonstrated a shocking failure in leadership. He is not fit to be the Minority Leader if he is unwilling to effectively oppose Trump’s destructive agenda. Along with other chapters of Indivisible, we call on him to step aside.
Together with Indivisible East Bay, Indivisible SF pushed our Senators Padilla and Schiff to vote NO, and we are grateful that they did. But without effective leadership, their opposition and our hard work was lost.

This Week's US Congressional Call Scripts:
Trump/Musk have been furiously slashing and gutting the federal government so that they can extend Trump's 2017 tax-cuts-for-the-wealthy before they expire at the end of this year. Tell your Senators and Representative to defend Social Security against Trump and Musk
Tell our Congresspeople: Stop BOP from Putting Trans Women in Men’s Prisons
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” – Martin Luther King.
Today we are confronted with the most dangerous political-constitutional crisis since the depths of the Great Depression of the 1930s and the rise of domestic fascism. And if Trump/Musk are not stopped, American democracy will face the gravest threat since the slave-holder rebellion of the Civil War.

H.R.22 will disenfranchise millions and hurt millions more. Tell your Representative to vote NO!
H.R.32 could potentially cut federal funding to schools, hospitals, homeless shelters, and transportation systems in more than two dozen states deemed "sanctuaries."
On Monday, wannabe-king Trump issued an unconstitutional decree through his Office of Management and Budget (OMB) halting a wide swath of federal non-defense funding for an indefinite period. This is an assertion of illegal powers to seize money that Congress has already legally directed to be spent for health, safety, education, research, housing, disaster relief, small business loans, and a wide range of other public needs.
The GOP Priority List will disenfranchise millions and hurt millions more. Tell your Representative to vote NO!
With new backing from Elon Musk on KOSA, it is more important than ever to tell your elected officials to vote NO!
HR. 9495 threatens pro-democracy groups with being branded as terrorists, crushing dissent and threatening groups like Indivisible. Thank our Reps for voting NO!
