Show Up for Budget Hearings: No Cuts, No Layoffs

  • San Francisco City Hall 1 Doctor Carlton B Goodlett Place San Francisco, California, 94102 United States (map)

Join us June 10, 11, and 12 to give public comment and defend our communities.

RSVP on Mobilize.

The Mayor’s budget is moving to the Board of Supervisors, and Round 1 Budget Hearings are the first time departments will publicly explain how the Mayor’s cuts will impact our communities.

We need people in the room and hundreds of hours of public comment to move the needle. The exact timing for each department will be confirmed closer to the hearing dates, but we are asking organizations, workers, and community members to hold all three days and join for as much time as you can.

These cuts are broad. Our solidarity has to be broad too.

What’s at Stake

City Hall is proposing deep cuts to the services, jobs, and community organizations that keep San Francisco housed, healthy, safe, working, and connected.

At the same time, the City is finding money for increased law enforcement budgets, including 14% raises for SFPD, the RESET Center, and the continued operation of a new jail in San Bruno, while cutting community services, SF Pretrial, and continuing to underfund the Public Defender.

We are showing up to demand:

Find the money. Restore the cuts. No cuts. No layoffs. Fund OUR San Francisco.

Hearing Focus by Day

  • Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs

  • Human Services Agency

Show up June 11 to make clear that San Francisco cannot recover by cutting housing, health care, jobs, education, arts, and the community programs that keep people alive and connected.

  • San Francisco Police Department

  • Sheriff’s Department

  • Public safety and justice-related departments

  • Includes increased budgets for SFPD and the Sheriff’s Department, including 14% raises, the RESET Center, and continued operation of a new jail in San Bruno
