Friends of La Peña will host in-person “Immigrant Rights Sundays.” Held each 4th Sunday from 2-4 PM at La Peña Cultural Center in Berkeley, these events will feature timely educational updates on actions threatening immigrants and their rights, as well as celebrate immigrant contributions to our East Bay community. Presentations will also emphasize ways to protect against inhumane and unjust policies.

The Friends of La Peña Immigrant Rights (FLPIR) is a diverse group of people concerned with the vastly-increased threat to immigrant rights underway in the United States. They were inspired by a “Know Your Rights” presentation in December 2024 at La Peña Cultural Center in Berkeley, California.

They focus on providing educational workshops and materials that explain immigrant constitutional rights, including for those who are undocumented. They also protest violations and abuses of these rights, as well as advocate for a just and humane immigration policy in the US with local, state and the U.S. governments.

FLPIR is an independent, unaffiliated organization that works closely with other immigrant rights groups in the Bay Area and nationally. They use the spaces available at La Peña as a hub for public education to encourage immigrant “Know Your Rights” efforts.
