Please submit a comment to the Department of Education to oppose the rollback of Obama-era guidelines to Title IX that will make it harder for students to report harassment and assault

The Violence Against Women Act was included in a defense and health spending bill passed last month. However, it was only granted a short-term reauthorization until Dec. 7. This new version contains language about letting law enforcement officials take weapons from domestic abusers who can’t legally own them, and significantly increases funding for rape crisis centers.

Congress has a choice to make. Right now, Democrats have two options on the table: help pass a full year of funding for DHS with at least $1.6 billion for the wall and enforcement, OR refuse to pass anything but a funding bill that keeps the government running and has no new funding for the wall and enforcement. They should make sure Trump’s shutdown showdown strategy is not rewarded with the building of his costly, unnecessary wall and instead pass a funding bill with no new funding.
