Tuesday was the one year anniversary of the murder of George Floyd, in which former officer Chauvin’s brazen behavior demonstrated the importance of ending qualified immunity.

There must be accountability for, and sanctions against, those who committed offenses against our Constitution and our democracy.. The commission proposal has to be voted on and passed by both the House and the Senate. It can, and should, be amended to make it a real rather than a sham commission.

The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act is an important first step in finally achieving meaningful reform of policing on a national level. Had its provisions already been in place in 2020, George Floyd might still be alive today. The House bill is good but we hope the Senate will make it even stronger, incorporating the recommendations of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights.

The City College of San Francisco is facing massive layoffs. In solidarity with AFT 2121, we are calling on our Supervisors and Mayor to support expanding the Workforce Education & Recovery Fund to help fund CCSF.

Senator Padilla is onboard with ending the filibuster, and Senator Feinstein has recently moved towards this position. To pass the voting rights laws they both support, tell them to pressure their colleagues in the Senate to end the filubster!

The Congressional Review Act (CRA) gives Congress 60 legislative-days to overturn racist, destructive, and corrupt rules and regulations promulgated by the Trump regime in its last days of power. Ask your Members of Congress revoke these regulations.
