For Senator Wiener:

I am concerned that the Trump Administration is rolling back non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ+ people. Thank your for sponsorship of so many bills to protect queer and trans people. I ask that you work to get the following bills passed in this legislative session: AB-82, AB-554, AB-678, AB-1084.

(These bills have passed the first house, so we are asking the senator to support assembly bills and vis versa.)

For Governor Newsom:

I am concerned about the Trump Administration's attacks on LGBTQ+ people. Thank you for your long career of fighting for the LGBT community. I ask that you continue this legacy: that you work to get the following bills passed before this legislative session ends this week and then sign them into law: AB-82, AB-554, AB-678, AB-1084, SB-59, SB-418, SB-450, SB-497, SB-590.

Background

As well as the privacy bills from the LGBTQ+ call to action last week, these scripts cover the following bills on the California Legislative LGBTQ Caucus's agenda:

AB 554: The PrEPARE Act (Gonzalez). Ensures the availability of PrEP medications (that prevent HIV), even if the Republican Administration attacks access federally.

AB 678: LGBT-safe homeless services (Lee). The Republican Administration has effectively ended protections for LGBTQ+ homeless people, so California needs to implement those protections.

SB 418: Ensure Equal Access to Care for All (Menjivar). Requires health insurance nondiscrimination for LGBTQ+ patients, and stockpiling of hormone therapy.

SB 450: LGBTQ+ Adoption Protections (Menjivar). Allows LGBTQ+ parents to adopt California-born kids from any state.

SB 590: found family leave (Durazo). Makes anybody caring for a seriously ill loved one eligible for wage compensation under the California’s Paid Family Leave Program, whether or not they are biological relatives.
