Hello, my name is [Your Name]. I'm a San Francisco resident and a member of Indivisible SF. (If you are a parent in the San Francisco Unified School District mention that here too.) I wanted to thank Superintendent Su and her brave staff for taking a public stand on the safety of children and families from potential ICE raids in our schools. I am grateful for your service and support the work you are doing.
Background
In a recent Mission Local article, Superintendent Maria Su was quoted as saying, “I want to be crystal clear: San Francisco public schools remain committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students and their families, regardless of immigration status.” The article goes on to report that several teachers have taken it upon themselves to offer workshops to concerned families and offer Know Your Rights education to anyone interested. Given the abduction of immigrants and citizens of color, including children, in the state of California, these brave acts by teachers and leaders at SFUSD should be supported and applauded.
