Background
A slate of rooftop solar-related bills are in front of committees in both the Assembly and the Senate, and they urgently need your support. Due to changes by the CA Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and the fixed-rate Utility Tax from last year, which we opposed, rooftop solar has become more expensive than ever. Current bills AB 1999, AB 2256, and AB 2619 aim to correct this, but utilities’ lobbies are working hard to prevent them from passing. Right now we are fighting for AB 1999, which would stop the big Utility Tax by capping it at $10/month and prohibiting it from rising any faster than inflation.
