My name is __________. I am a constituent, and my zip code is _______. I am a member of Indivisible SF.
[For Senator Padilla]: I am disappointed that the Senator voted for the NDAA with anti-transgender provisions. Sacrificing our community members in a poison pill is dangerous and shows that the Senator is willing to capitulate to Trump’s agenda.
[Bonus: for Senator Schiff]: Thank you for voting against the NDAA with anti-transgender provisions. We appreciate the Senator trying to protect our community members.
Background
It happened before we could react: The House and Senate both passed the National Defense Authorization Act, the bill that funds the US military. Unfortunately, this year’s NDAA included a provision inserted by MAGA Republicans that would ban gender-affirming care for transgender servicemembers.
Our new senator, Senator Schiff, voted no on this bill, and we want to thank him for that. Our other senator, however, voted to pass this harmful bill, and he needs to hear from us that that wasn’t OK.
Tell Senator Schiff: Thank you for standing up for transgender servicemembers!
Tell Senator Padilla: We need you to protect trans rights, including those of transgender servicemembers.

Today we are confronted with the most dangerous political-constitutional crisis since the depths of the Great Depression of the 1930s and the rise of domestic fascism. On Monday, wannabe-king Trump issued an unconstitutional decree through his Office of Management and Budget (OMB) halting a wide swath of federal non-defense funding for an indefinite period. This is an assertion of illegal powers to seize money that Congress has already legally directed to be spent for health, safety, education, research, housing, disaster relief, small business loans, and a wide range of other public needs.
