We are glad to see you giving Judge Jackson your full support during Judiciary Committee hearings on her nomination to our Supreme Court. We want you to continue calling out the unfounded smears on her character and distinguished résumé by the corrupt, shameless Republicans on your committee.
Background
More of President Biden’s nominees to the federal judiciary have been confirmed than many recent presidents. His nominees represent all Americans, with demographic and vocational diversity. His nominee to the Supreme Court, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, continues that practice. If confirmed, she will be only the fourth person of color, and the sixth woman, among the 115 Supreme Court justices who have served throughout U.S. history. And she will join the Court with more public defense experience than any justice since Thurgood Marshall.
Republicans, of course, don’t want a government that represents or serves all Americans. They don’t want a government that serves Americans at all—they just want power. They’re the Bullies Across the Aisle, so we are not surprised when they lob disgusting smears at extremely well-qualified nominees, mainly because the president who nominated them is a Democrat. We need our Democratic Members of Congress to call this out: name the partisanship, name the racism, name the disregard for the truth and the insults to the intelligence and character of the American people. Name the bullying for what it is.
How do we handle bullies? We fight back.
