Call Script

"Good morning/afternoon, my name is ______________ and I am a concerned San Franciscan/community member who is calling you to urge you to dismiss the eviction case against your tenant who is detained by ICE.

Proceeding with eviction during this period would impose severe and lasting harm, including the loss of housing and stability for the tenant who relies on his home.

Dropping the eviction case and allowing time for the situation to stabilize offers a constructive path forward. Community members and local organizations are prepared to assist with coordinating communication, arranging payment plans, and applying for rental assistance through the San Francisco Emergency Rental Assistance Program (SF ERAP).

Housing stability benefits not only the tenant and their family but also the broader community.

We respectfully ask that you exercise discretion and compassion by withdrawing the eviction action and engaging in dialogue about a workable resolution. Your consideration at this critical moment would make a meaningful difference.

Thank you."

Subject: Request to Dismiss Eviction Proceedings for Tenant Detained by ICE

Dear TRINITY PLACE at 33 8th Street LLC,

My name is ______________ and I am a concerned San Franciscan/community member who is writing today to urge you to dismiss the pending eviction case against your tenant, who is currently detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). His detention has made it impossible for him to work or manage his personal affairs, including rent payments.

Their current circumstances are beyond his control.

We recognize the financial responsibilities involved in property ownership and are committed to working collaboratively toward a solution that protects your interests while preventing unnecessary displacement. Housing stability benefits not only the tenant and their family but also the broader community.

We respectfully ask that you exercise discretion and compassion by withdrawing the eviction action and engaging in dialogue about a workable resolution. Your consideration at this critical moment would make a meaningful difference.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

[Your Full Name]

Background

This action calls on community members to contact Trinity Properties and urge them to dismiss the eviction case against a San Francisco tenant currently detained by ICE. Advocates argue that proceeding with eviction while the tenant is in federal custody violates due process and would cause severe, lasting harm. The request emphasizes compassion, cooperation on payment and rental assistance, and maintaining housing stability for both the tenant and the broader community.

This 42-year-old San Francisco tenant from Russia is facing eviction by Trinity Properties—one of the city’s largest landlords—while he remains in federal immigration custody. He lives at Trinity Place, 33 Eighth St., in the SoMa neighborhood in District 6. He has been held in ICE custody since January 5, 2026.

The tenant, who fled Russia due to political persecution, had an eviction trial scheduled for last Monday morning at the 400 McAllister Street courthouse. The Eviction Defense Collaborative, which represents him in the case, obtained a two-week continuance, postponing the hearing until Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

According to attorneys with the Eviction Defense Collaborative, lawyers for the landlord have declined to reschedule the hearing despite being informed that the tenant is detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

You can read more about the tenant’s case here: https://missionlocal.org/2026/02/sanfrancisco-tenant-in-ice-custody-may-be-evicted/

This case raises broader concerns about whether individuals in immigration detention nationwide are being effectively denied due process in non-immigration matters, including civil, housing, and family court cases. Proceeding with eviction during this period would impose severe and lasting harm, including the loss of housing and stability for the tenant who relies on his home.
