I urge [MoC or Senator name] not to vote on any interim aid package, unless it includes additional funding ($4 billion) for states to ensure the following measures are implemented to protect the sanctity of the 2020 November election:
Expand by 15 days early in person voting and allow no-excuse absentee vote by mail in all states. States should provide prepaid postage envelopes for all voters who request voter registrations forms or absentee ballot.
Require states and jurisdictions to establish a publicly available contingency plan to enable eligible Americans to vote in case of an emergency.
Background
The type of voter suppression we witnessed last week in Wisconsin is a serious concern leading up to the general election in November. The stakes are extremely high: in order to safeguard our democracy, Congress must prioritize implementing and funding vote by mail across the country before the November election, and they must act as quickly as possible to do so.
