If you can't get through to one office, try another. There is no benefit to calling one office over another. Leaving a voicemail is as good as reaching a live person. Hate the phone? Resistbot is your friend.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi

Call the SF office first, but try the DC office if you can’t get through. If you get voicemail, hang up and try a few more times to talk to a real person. Don’t give up! Short direct messages are most effective. Hate the phone? Resistbot is your friend.

Congress must block Trump from illegally raiding funds that have already been appropriated to HUD, DHS and the Army Corps of Engineers to pay for his fake border emergency. Not only is this unconstitutional, but it will place our nation and our citizens at far greater risk than any imagined border emergency.
[Sen. Feinstein] I want Senator Feinstein to co-sign the Protecting Disaster Relief Funds Act, S. 534, already co-sponsored by Senator Harris, that will specifically bar Trump from taking such irresponsible and illegal actions.
[Rep. Speier] I want Congresswoman Speier to co-sign the Protecting Disaster Relief Funds Act, HR 1214, that will specifically bar Trump from talking such irresponsible and illegal actions.
[Speaker Pelosi] I want Speaker Pelosi to come out in support of the Protecting Disaster Relief Funds Act, HR 1214, that will specifically bar Trump from talking such irresponsible and illegal actions.
Good news: the resolution to end Trump's Fake Emergency (H.J. Res 46) passed the House last week and its companion bill is due to be scheduled for a vote in the Senate.
Bad news: Trump is threatening to take funds that have been appropriated to other departments by Congress to pay for his racist wall. Not only is this unconstitutional, but it will place Americans at far greater risk than any imagined border emergency.
The Protecting Disaster Relief Funds Act companion bills in the Senate (S. 534) and House (HR 1214) have been introduced to prohibit Trump from taking funds granted to the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, or the Army Corps of Engineers in recent appropriations, and using those funds to build a physical barrier on the Southern border.
Senator Harris is an original cosponsor of S. 534, but Senator Feinstein has yet to sign on. And neither Congresswoman Speier nor Speaker Pelosi have expressed support for House bill, HR 1214.
Trump’s “national emergency” is a fake emergency.
Trump wants you to think immigrants and asylum seekers are a threat, rather than people who want to join America, so he peddles lies and fear-mongering.
On the basis of that imagined threat, he demands a border wall (or “barrier”). Since no one wants to pay for it, he has declared a fake “national emergency.”
A fake emergency is an unconstitutional power grab.
Building Trump’s wall/barrier requires:
Stealing money that Congress appropriated for other purposes.
Seizing the private property of Americans living and working along the border.
Deploying the U.S. military within the U.S., and issuing “defense” contracts to for-profit companies, for the purpose of building the wall/barrier.
These actions are wrong and betray the country and our Constitution in service of racism and greed and Trump’s own lust for power.
That is the real emergency.
Trump is seizing powers beyond those of the presidency for no real purpose except to have them and wield them, unchecked by Congress and unaccountable to the people.
That is an emergency, and Congress can and must act.
We call on Congress to immediately end the fake emergency, and remind Trump:
Congress alone—on our behalf—holds the power of the purse.
Seizing Americans’ private property is an abuse of power.
The military is not to be deployed within the United States (Posse Comitatus).
Looting public coffers to enrich private companies is unacceptable.
