Launching the “I Could Be Trans” Campaign

Join us in allyship and community to stand with trans folks under attack.

Trans people are people, just like you and me. You could be trans, or love someone who is. Trans people are under consistent, material threat as the Trump administration is waging all-out war against trans people.

We are seeing an active campaign of measurable, intentional harm on transgender individuals, both adults and children, as well as their families. This campaign includes, and is not limited to, the following:

  • Banning and defunding gender-affirming care in multiple states and on the federal level

  • Decertification of documents, such as driver's licenses, and withholding of accurate passports

  • Forced outing of trans children in schools

  • Levying of, and threat of, felony charges and imprisonment against parents of trans children

  • "Bathroom bills" that are enforced through sexual harassment and functionally expel trans and gender-nonconforming people from public spaces

We believe that the situation for trans people is dire and is escalating to a wholesale genocide. It is a situation that will sweep up other communities as well. Anyone who looks or behaves in a way that is inconsistent with traditional gender roles is under threat. That can be gender-nonconforming people, anyone who is gay, women who wear pants, and children. Nobody should be faced with the bigoted enforcement of the above-mentioned policies. And we must fight back.

Here’s what you can do.

  1. RSVP for and volunteer at our Trans Ally Rally on June 27 at 10 AM at Embarcadero Plaza. In partnership with SF Pride, People's March & Rally, San Francisco Dyke March, and SF Dykes on Bykes® WMC, we will march and rally for our trans loved ones before the official SF Dyke March in the afternoon.

  2. Buy an I Could Be Trans t-shirt (and/or get a button at one of our meetings) and wear it proudly. Send the message: ANYONE can be trans, and we will not accept harm on our loved ones. Proceeds from the t-shirts go to the Trans March

  3. Make sure you’re ready to vote in the midterms (and vote in the primaries by June 2!). The campaigns against trans people are driven primarily by Republicans trying to feed political red meat to their bigotry-motivated base. A majority in the House can stop a lot of these attacks in their tracks.  See more on our Vote page.

Check out our I Could Be Trans website. Learn about the attacks trans people are facing, more calls to action, and how you can talk to people about this issue.
