The Big Game is done, but ours is just beginning
2026 is already shaping to be a big year for San Francisco, from the Bay Area hosting the Super Bowl this month (including an outstanding performance by Bad Bunny in the halftime show so defiantly American that some Republicans want to censor it) to the midterm elections this fall.
Some of us held a voter registration drive at a Chinatown neighborhood Super Bowl pre-game party on Wednesday, February 4. Equipped with voter registration forms available in English, Spanish, and Chinese, we kicked off our efforts to get people registered to vote even before the NFL kick-off the following Sunday.
You, too, should register to vote—or if you think you are registered, check! This is vitally important. Given the relentless push by the Trump/MAGA regime for access to state voting records, on top of the rare but real possibility of mundane mishaps, we urge you: don’t take it for granted that your voter registration is intact.
This is only the first of many more outreach efforts we’ll be making in the coming months. It’s easy to assume that San Francisco is ready if everyone you know is, but there are thousands of people who are tuned out and need to be clued in. These efforts need to start now and be sustained all the way up to voting time. What will you do to ensure every eligible voter participates this year?
We’re looking to organize efforts within every district of San Francisco—this event in District 3 is just the start. Feel free to contact us if you’d like to organize voter registration drives at upcoming events in your area.
