We invite you to join us this Saturday, Feb. 14 for the one-year anniversary of Trump Regime Takedown! It’s awesome that we’ve been able to maintain a weekly protest for an entire year in San Francisco and that couldn’t have happened without you. You all have turned that protest corner into THE place to be with your continued presence and dedication to the expression of our first amendment rights.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the history of our weekly protests on that corner, it began as Tesla Takedown last February and was later rebranded as Trump Regime Takedown to cover a wider scope of issues (of which there seems no end!). On February 14, we’ll be celebrating the one-year anniversary of holding down that protest corner and we invite you to party in the street with us! Please mark your calendars for this Saturday and invite all your friends.
Activities this week:
Free commemorative giveaways and snacks while they last
Valentine making activity
Music by Brass Liberation Orchestra!
Feel free to bring your own valentine-related protest signs
This week at TRT: ISF Valentines for the Vulnerable on Valentine’s Day
We don’t like the violent attacks on protesters; the kidnapping of people including children, disabled and the infirmed by masked agents from our streets, schools, businesses, homes and hospitals; the killing of protesters and other victims; the disgusting racist imagery coming from the Office of the President of the United States; nor the targeting of trans folks. We could be angry and show our anger as we always do and have done since our very first protest in February 2017, when we wrote #DearDon Valentines, but for one day, we won’t. Nearly 10 years later, we will pause our outrage for a different approach.
We’ll focus our attention on where it is most needed and in a way that is needed more than ever! Though we are not on the ground in Minneapolis where community members every single day are taking risks demonstrating in remarkable ways what “love thy neighbor” truly means, ISF can be in solidarity with their efforts not with a sword but with a pen. We will collect encouraging handwritten messages for the hurting. For one day, our focus will go into showing gratitude and that we care–many of us do! We see you. We hear you.
We invite community members to express love and support to our vulnerable communities: immigrants, black people, brown people, lgbtq+ people, along with the brave protestors risking their lives to help those in need. ISF will provide, collect and display handwritten ‘heart-felt’ messages from those in attendance at TRT.
For those who cannot attend, you are welcome to participate online through various actions from Indivisible's partnership with I Am An Immigrant.
A core principle behind all Indivisible and 50501 events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. We oppose violence, vandalism, and destruction of property. This protest is a lawful exercise of our First Amendment right to peaceful assembly.
