If you can't get through to one office, try another.  There is no benefit to calling one office over another. Leaving a voicemail is as good as reaching a live person. Hate the phone? Resistbot is your friend.

Please contact the Senator's office and insist that she co-sponsor S. 631, which admits D.C. into the Union as a new state, with all the Congressional representation afforded to each state. Every citizen deserves to have a voice and be counted!

Hi, my name is _____ and I live in ZIP code _____, and I’m a member of Indivisible SF. Please co-sponsor Senate Bill 631, the Washington, D.C. Admission Act. Thank you.

Context

Next week the House Oversight Committee will have its first hearing on D.C. statehood in 26 years, to ensure that 700,000+ taxpaying Americans have full and equal representation in Congress and autonomy over their local affairs. The House bill, H.R. 51, has 218 co-sponsors, including Rep. Jackie Speier, and we want to grow that number to ensure its passage. (Speaker Pelosi has said she'd bring the bill to the floor for a vote, once it makes it out of Committee.)

We have a lot of work to do in the Senate, however. Right now, we know that Moscow Mitch won't schedule the bill for a vote (which he referred to as "full bore Socialism"), so we're focused on gaining co-sponsors in the Senate, so that WHEN we have a Majority Leader Schumer in 2021, we'll have the votes already lined up to pass the bill. Right now we have 33 co-sponsors in the Senate plus the lead sponsor, Sen. Carper.

While Senator Harris is among the co-sponsors in the Senate, Senate Feinstein has NOT yet agreed to co-sponsor. What is especially baffling is that she co-sponsored the EXACT SAME bill, when it was first heard in the Senate back in 2014. Moreover, her staff has been completely evasive, when asked to explain WHY she has not yet signed on to support the exact same bill that she supported back in 2014. Please call and email the Senator's office and insist that she co-sponsor S. 631, DCs right to statehood. EVERY citizen deserves to have a voice and be counted!

Also, if you know folks in AZ, MI, ME, NV, OR, RI, or WA, we could use your help in spreading the word, as those states have one or both Senators NOT supporting the statehood bill presently. (See list of current co-sponsors here.)
