Defend Harvard! Defend education!
The Trump administration has been attacking education in this country. It has made attacks on the Department of Education. 50% of the workforce at the Department of Education has been laid off and there are significant cuts in funding of educational programs there. This is part of the authoritarian playbook. It is easier to control people who do not think for themselves.
Laugh like it’s your civic duty: Satire as a tool of fighting fascism
Trump hates being laughed at. He’s said as much. And while the erosion of our democracy is no laughing matter, satire and humor have often played an important role in undermining authoritarian regimes.

Time for today’s media to make GOOD TROUBLE!
We make a request. On July 17, 2025, grab a candle. Light it. Do it in honor of the legacy of John Lewis. Do it in honor of those who never wavered, who were knocked down, but got back up, time and time again, despite beatings, injuries and insults. They took risks for the greater good.

Let’s dig a little bit into how we can get through what’s coming at a day-to-day level.
What if Trump invokes the Insurrection Act?
Trump May Invoke the 1807 Insurrection Act
On his first day in office last January, wannabe king Trump declared a national emergency on our southern border granting him broad powers to repel a non-existent "invasion." (In actual fact, the number of illegal border crossings is at an historic low.) Trump's declaration also gave the departments of Defense and Homeland Security 90 days to produce a report recommending that he invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807.
That report has now come due. Trump could invoke the Insurrection Act at any moment.
