It's time to recharge our engagement efforts focused on our two US Senators in California. Especially in light of the escalating insanity of the lawless Trump regime.. We currently have messages out to both Sens. Schiff and Padilla's staffs, requesting meetings in January, awaiting responses and scheduling.
We will discuss a range of current issues/advocacy topics, getting input from the team, and aim for general alignment on which topics and positions should be prioritized in near-term meetings with the senators' offices. Identify several potential focused roles some team members could take on, and request volunteers and discuss potential upcoming action alerts - call campaigns into senators, and request volunteers to help drive them.

Honor the Selma, Alabama, to Montgomery, Alabama marches and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 by experiencing the MLK2026 commemorative march/parade from San Francisco's Caltrain Station to Yerba Buena Gardens.
The 2026 MLK March is a poignant and symbolic journey that pays homage to the historic Selma to Montgomery marches and the monumental Voting Rights Act of 1965. Spanning 1.5 miles, this commemorative march and parade begins at San Francisco's Caltrain Station and winds its way through the heart of the city, ultimately culminating at the serene Yerba Buena Gardens.
Thousands of participants, representing diverse backgrounds, join together in unity, echoing the spirit of solidarity that defined the civil rights movement. As the march progresses, it becomes a living tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s unwavering dedication to justice and equality.
The march's profound conclusion takes place at Yerba Buena Gardens, where an interfaith commemoration, in partnership with the San Francisco Interfaith Council, further underscores the importance of unity and faith in the pursuit of social progress. This moment of reflection and unity reminds us of the ongoing struggle for civil rights and the need to continue marching forward towards a more just and inclusive society.
The annual march begins at 11:00am, and marchers are encourages to arrive early.

On January 20, we call on our communities to organize teams, call your neighbors and classmates, and turn your back and walk out on fascism. Host mutual aid planning meetings, organize public service, but walk out to block the normal routines of power, and make the stakes real. This is a protest and a promise. In the face of fascism, we will be ungovernable.
Thursdays from 12-1pm, join our friends at Spiritual Friends Sangha to ground in meditation on the steps of City Hall, in response to the ongoing tragedies, too many to list. But here are a few.
Seems like for every big SF issue, there will be a vote in 2026.
The June ballot will have the fight for Nancy Pelosi's seat and special supervisor elections that test how much heat remains from the Engardio recall. In November, half of supervisor and school board seats will be in play, and the public defender’s race will highlight civil rights and public safety. There will also likely be taxes for public transit and bonds for affordable housing.
Who’s on your ballot? What are your hot buttons? Join the discussion with San Francisco State political science professor Jason McDaniel, Westside Family Democratic Club board member Cyn Wang, and Rose Pak Asian American Club president Jeremy Lee.
The San Francisco Public Press's Lila LaHood and The Frisc's Alex Lash will moderate the conversation and audience Q&A. Bring your questions, and don't leave any chads hanging!
