In 1968, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and many others called for a “revolution of values” in America. They sought to build a broad, fusion movement that could unite poor and impacted communities across the country.

Today, the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival (PPC) has picked up this unfinished work. From Alaska to Arkansas, the Bronx to the border, people are coming together to confront the interlocking evils of systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation, militarism and the war economy, and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism. We understand that as a nation we are at a critical juncture — that we need a movement that will shift the moral narrative, impact policies, and build lasting power for poor and impacted people.

On June 18, 2022, PPC will hold the Mass Poor People’s & Low-Wage Workers’ Assembly and Moral March on Washington D.C. This event will be a generationally transformative and disruptive gathering of poor and low-wealth people, faith leaders, moral allies, unions, and partnering organizations. We will be raising our voices to elected officials to say that the current system is killing us, and that we REFUSE to be silent anymore.

To help bring hundreds of thousands of people to DC, the CA and surrounding Western Region states PPC are planning a robust mobilization to build momentum towards June 18. On Sunday, March 13, at 3 pm PT, join us as we convene to share our plans, exchange mobilization strategies, heal from art and song, and prepare ourselves for not just a summer day in June but a declaration of the power of the dispossessed.
