Indivisible Sonoma County "Hold the House" Meeting with Congresswoman Katie Porter, CA-47

Please join us on Wednesday, October 26th, at 5:50 pm as we welcome CA-47 incumbent Congresswoman Katie Porter as our guest for our ninth “Hold the House” meeting.

The road to keeping our House majority runs through California, where we have the opportunity to hold a number of the “Blue Wave” districts that we flipped in 2018. One of those districts is CA-47, which Katie Porter took from Mimi Walters that year, the first Democrat to win there since the district was formed in 1953.

Katie quickly became one of the rising starts of the Blue Wave class of representatives, known in particular for her sharp and unrelenting questioning of witnesses in congressional hearings, supported by the use of her iconic whiteboard. A lawyer and law professor specializing in consumer law prior to being elected to Congress, she has taken apart witnesses as varied as JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, Postmaster Louis DeJoy, and former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. Perhaps her most notable whiteboard-assisted win came in 2020, when she used it to secure free COVID testing for all Americans. In 2020 Katie served as one of the three co-chairs for the campaign of her mentor, Elizabeth Warren. She is currently the deputy chair of the increasingly powerful Congressional Progressive Caucus.

We’re excited to have the chance to meet Katie, get to know more about her and her campaign, and learn what we can do to help her hold CA-47 in the closing days of this election. We hope you will join us!
