Submit a Public Comment Directly at Regulations.gov. Deadline: October 20, 2025

The proposed amendment to the Elections Assistance Commission (EAC) Regulations and the National Mail Voter Registration Form would impose national proof-of-citizenship vote ID requirements similar to those of the SAVE Act that Senate Democrats blocked from becoming law.  Click here to go to a description of the change and the comment page.

Talking Points

(Note: below are talking points you can use to craft your own statement. Public comment works best when every comment is unique, well-researched and personally relevant.)

  • The Federal Courts already told the Trump Administration that they couldn’t require voter ID, but Trump has told the EAC to go ahead with it anyways.

  • There is no empirical proof of voter fraud in any meaningful or significant way that would change any election.

  • The enforcement of EAC-2025-0236-0001 would mean that a valid government issued ID would be required when someone registers to vote. It would be a driver’s license, passport, pr some official type of government issued ID to be required to register to vote.

  • This will disenfranchise large amounts of new voters, and directly target mail in voting, which has been an issue with the Trump administration.

  • It will not target people that are already registered to vote, but is meant to keep large numbers of young new voters from registering because they would be the ones that have to show the proof.
