Economic Resistance: Cancel Spotify
From the Activist Hour resource list on Canceling Spotify:
After giving Spotify a chance to reconsider before recommending economic action, Indivisible is now calling for action on Spotify’s collaboration with the Trump regime. Here's the how-to from the Action Hour’s explainer on This Week’s Economic Resistance, which also lists alternative music services and their prices. Or, if you prefer to watch a video, here’s one that ISF’s brilliant media relations lead found.
STEP 1: Start Up a New Platform - (See list of alternatives and analysis in the Google Doc)
STEP 2: Transfer Playlists to New Account
Use a playlist-transfer service that supports Spotify-to-Spotify. Soundiiz, FreeYourMusic
STEP 3: Cancelling Spotify (via phone)
Open the Spotify mobile app.
Go to Your Library → tap your profile icon (top-left or right).
Tap Your plan / View your plan.
Tap See available plans → then scroll down and select Cancel Premium (or similar).
Confirm cancellation. After your current billing period ends, you revert to the free tier.
Note: If you subscribed through your phone’s app-store (e.g., Apple App Store or Google Play) you might need to cancel via that store instead of inside Spotify. After cancellation, you’ll still keep your playlists and saved songs — you just lose Premium features (offline downloads, no ads) once the paid period ends.
