One Million Rising: Organizing for Democracy
Let’s build a force bigger than fear and louder than hate. Let’s get ready. Let’s get organized. Let’s stop MAGA.
One Million Rising builds on Indivisible’s No Kings mobilization. It introduces basic campaign design and teaches how to implement that design locally and as part of a national campaign. The first two One Million Rising webinars were in July. Did you miss them? That's OK! You can use the YouTube links below to watch the previous sessions on demand and catch up before session 3 on August 13.
Session 1, The Moment & Your Mission, describes the theory of action, based on the pillars of support for civil society. MAGA has been extorting compliance from organizations that comprise several of these pillars to prop up an authoritarian regime. Media businesses, institutions of higher education, and federal government agencies and their labor unions are prominent examples.
But we the people can organize to weaken those pillars and restore a truly representative democracy.
Session 2, How to Make it Happen, lays out the specific steps for hosting a gathering to organize a piece of a movement. It entails meeting with friends and neighbors, conversing about the state of democracy, and generating active involvement in resistance efforts. Historically, sustained, broad-based resistance has been effective in dislodging authoritarian regimes.
Session 3, What Now?, will continue building a resistance movement. Watching the previous sessions is not required; you're welcome to attend on August 13 whether you've joined us before or not. Session 3 will review basic campaign design and local implementation as well as integration into our national campaign work. Watch it live with a friend in person, and get ready now to host your own community resistance gatherings. This is how we get to 1 million!
