Our Letter to our Senators on the Ukraine "28 Point Peace Plan"

We wrote the following letter to our Senators about our concerns about the terrible US “peace plan” for the Ukraine was that was written by Russia, and we got a response.

Dear Senators Schiff/Padilla :

We are in the midst of a diplomatic debacle due to both the incompetence and subordination to Putin’s aggression by President Trump and the State department.  The  so-called “28-point peace plan” delivered to Ukraine, billed as Trump’s signature diplomatic vision, was in fact drafted by Russia.

A bipartisan group of senators described it as Russia’s “wish list” and said that Secretary of State Marco Rubio had given them the green light to go public with this information. After the news broke, the Trump administration scrambled to contain the damage and the State Department started backtracking on Rubio’s statement. Now, our close allies across the world are demanding to know the truth behind this so-called “peace plan” and Trump has been exposed as nothing more than an intermediary for Vladimir Putin.

It’s an unacceptable foreign policy mess. The deal, which calls on Ukraine to make major concessions to Russia (or risk losing US support) will not create a lasting peace, but rather leave Ukraine vulnerable, Europe unstable, and NATO and America weaker. We are urging you to work with your colleagues to block/withdraw this plan before the stated “deadline” of Thursday (Nov 27th, 2025).  Specifically, we ask you to:

1. Publicly denounce this plan as a betrayal of America’s eighty years’ alliance with NATO and appeasement of  war criminal Vladimir Putin.

2. Work with your colleagues in both the Democratic and Republican caucus to pass a vote of no confidence in the plan and clearly demonstrate that the U.S. Senate and House are not endorsing this plan.

3. Demand oversight hearings to hold  Secretary Rubio and other state department officials involved in this embarrassing international mess accountable, immediately after the Thanksgiving holiday.

4. Introduce new sanctions on Russia’s interests and oligarchs who operate with impunity in the US.

We got a response from Senator Schiff’s office, as well as Padilla’s office. Schiff’s staffer said that Schiff agrees with us and will continue to do everything he can to fix the peace plan proposal.
