We rallied for the For the People Act at Sen. Feinstein's offices

On Monday, April 5, members of Indivisible chapters around the Bay Area gathered at 1 Post Plaza, the home of Sen. Feinstein’s San Francisco office, as members of other chapters across the state gathered at her offices in Los Angeles and San Diego.

Our demand? Protect Americans’ voting rights by passing S.1, the For the People Act, and bust the filibuster to do it.

We were met outside 1 Post by Sen. Feinstein’s state director, Jim Lazarus, who spoke briefly and assured the crowd that Sen. Feinstein and Senate leadership would find “a path that allows this bill to go forward with 50 Democratic votes and the Vice President”, though he did not elaborate on busting the filibuster specifically, even when pressed by a member of Indivisible Yolo.

It was a pleasant and safe rally, and we were happy to see Jim in person again for the first time since before the pandemic. We hope Sen. Feinstein will follow through on her recent support for filibuster reform and her commitment to pass S.1, use her influence to help build unanimous support within the Democratic caucus for these necessary steps, and deliver the protections and relief that Americans need.
