On May 12 at NOON on the steps of City Hall, the People’s Budget Coalition and everyday San Franciscans will gather for a LAST CHANCE FOR THE MAYOR TO DO THE RIGHT THING.
WRITE a Postcard. Write a letter or a postcard and join the People’s Budget on the steps of City Hall on May 12th at Noon. We will be delivering all of the postcards on May 12, 2026, to City Hall and letting them know: It’s not too late to prioritize Everyday San Franciscans in the 2026-2027 Budget.

MAKE a Short Video (3 minutes or less) & SHARE it on Social Media. Pressure builds not just from US advocating at City Hall but by more of our neighbors joining us in our fight and struggle. We need more social media about the community and city services that benefit Everyday San Franciscans. So make a quick video about ONE service you cherish! Don’t worry too much about lighting or audio; it’s proven that it doesn't matter nearly as much as knowledge or passion about a topic. Post it to your favorite social media platform and TAG @sfpeoplesbudget and @danielluriesf when you do. We will help amplify your story by sharing it with our coalition and broader community.
Background
Join the People’s Budget Coalition in their fight for bold revenue solutions to address the budget crisis without sacrificing working-class communities. While federal policies are slashing funds for crucial support services across the country, Mayor Lurie is planning to balance the city budget on the backs of San Francisco’s working-class families, seniors, immigrants, community service providers and crucial climate action plans. The budget process moves fast, May is our best chance to reject draconian cuts to services that affect every aspect of the lives of everyday San Franciscans. The Mayor’s budget is proposing:
$57 million cut to public health targeting transgender and LGBTQ+ services
Nearly 13,000 low income families will lose services that help them stay employed, access basic needs, and prevent homelessness
80% cut to San Francisco's Climate Action Plan with no backup whatsoever
At least 300 city workers laid off, eliminating critical services across the city
Safety net for immigrants is being hollowed out as immigrant-serving nonprofits lose funding for wraparound and emergency support
Decimating the social safety net will not support the Mayor’s economic recovery plan. Instead, the Mayor could raise taxes on billionaires and contain out-of-control police and sheriff overtime. We demand a People’s Budget that has wealthy corporations pay their fair share of taxes and a City Hall that follows new revenue solutions that align with San Francisco values.
